John Leschak - Juris Doctor - Supervising Attorney
John Leschak is an attorney who specializes in immigration law. He has practiced in immigration law since 2010.
He has successfully handled thousands of cases, including for asylum, adjustment of status, bond hearings for detained persons, cancellation of removal, consular processing, DACA, deportation defense, family-based immigration, fiance visas(K visas), Motions to Reopen and Reconsider, Parole in Place for family of US military and US veterans, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, stays of removal, student visas (F visas), U visas, visa extensions, waivers of unlawful presence, waivers for criminal convictions, withholding of removal, and more.
Mr. Leschak handles immigration cases and proceedings before DHS, USCIS, the Immigration Court in all parts of the USA, and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). He also handles appellate work before the Third Circuit Court of Federal Appeals. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bars, as well as bar of the New Jersey Federal District Court, the New York Federal District Court for the Southern District, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Leschak is trusted by many community-based organizations in the state of New Jersey, as well as national networks. He has proven to offer reliable advice and faithful representation to our clients. Mr. Leschak gives back to the community by providing pro bono legal representation to those in need. In particular, he provides ongoing pro bono legal representation to patients of the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital, assisting immigrant patients suffering from mental health conditions to navigate our complicated immigration systems.
For many years he also served on the board of directors of Casa Freehold, the Latino Coalition of Monmouth County, as well as the Latino Action Network. Mr. Leschak is a member of the State Bar Association of New Jersey, the New York State Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild, New Jersey Advocates for Immigrant Detainees and Monmouth County Coalition for Immigrant Rights. He is an alumnus of The College of New Jersey where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Justice Studies.
Mr. Leschak is married and he and his wife, Yuri Beltran, have two young children. In his free time, Mr. Leschak enjoys being with his children and growing fruits and vegetables in his backyard garden.

Charlotte Scanniello - Associate Attorney
Ms. Scanniello earned her B.S. in Labor Studies and Employment Relations with a minor in Human Resources from Rutgers University - New Brunswick in 2017, graduating cum laude. She then attended Rutgers Law School in Camden, New Jersey, where she completed her J.D. in 2021, also earning an Immigration Law Certificate.
During law school, Ms. Scanniello was highly engaged in campus activities, serving as a member of the Immigration Law Society, Liaison to the Student Leadership Sub-Committee for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, and as a member of the Scarlet Raptor Hearing Board. One of her most rewarding experiences was working in the Immigrant Justice Clinic, where she represented clients in deportation proceedings, asylum cases, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases, and U Visa applications.
Before joining Leschak & Associates, Ms. Scanniello focused on a Humanitarian Assistance Project for Afghan refugees. Over the course of two years, she specialized in asylum cases for Afghan refugees, assisted with status adjustments, and helped file petitions for family members still in Afghanistan. To better connect with her clients, she began learning Dari, a skill she hopes to continue developing.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Scanniello enjoys spending time at home with her two cats and nurturing her passion for gardening. She takes great pride in tending to her many plants, finding joy in watching them flourish. Each summer, she grows a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, and herbs, and she loves sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends, often surprising them with fresh produce from her garden. Gardening has become a cherished hobby that allows her to unwind and connect with nature.
Ms. Scanniello is also an avid traveler, always eager to explore new places and cultures. She recently had the opportunity to visit England and Scotland for the first time, an experience that deepened her love for travel. She finds joy in the adventure of discovering new destinations and looks forward to her next journey, with South America at the top of her list. Whether it’s immersing herself in history, cuisine, or landscapes, she relishes the opportunity to travel and create lasting memories.

Francisco Joubert - Associate Attorney
Francisco earned his Juris Doctor from the School of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. He is the recipient of the Dr. Santos P. Amadeo Award in Human Rights Defense.
Francisco has worked in Immigration and all areas of Civil Law, standing out as an Attorney in Family cases. He has also worked defending and enforcing the rights of mentally ill patients and the rights of users of controlled substances. He has collaborated by offering legal advice and support to victims of child abuse and domestic violence. In total, he has over twenty-five years of experience.
Francisco obtained, from University of Puerto Rico, Bachelor's degree in Political Science, with a minor degree in Middle Eastern Government and Politics, and in Music.
Francisco is a lover of classical music. He has belonged to several choirs, including the San Juan Philharmonic Choir, where he performed as Tenor I. In the San Juan Philharmonic Choir, he had the opportunity to sing at the prestigious Casals Festival where he was directed by World-renowned Cellist and Conductor, Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich in the interpretation of Mozart's Requiem. In addition to music, he is a lover of the Torah.

Mary Srafen - Associate Attorney
Ms. Srafen received her B.A. in 2019 from the College of Saint Rose, in Criminal Justice, Behavior and Law. In 2022, Ms. Srafen graduated cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law, in Bristol, Rhode Island.
During her law school studies, Ms. Srafen was a Rule 9 Student Attorney, serving clients at the Roger Williams University School of Law, Immigration Clinic. Ms. Srafen has experience helping families in several areas of immigration law, including Adjustment of Status, VAWA, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Srafen clerked for the Honorable Colleen M. Flynn, P.J.Cr. in Middlesex County Superior Court.
Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Ms. Srafen immigrated to the United States at the age of five. Although she has lived in the United States for practically her whole life, she is very in-tune with her Egyptian heritage. Ms. Srafen loves to jam to Arabic music and has a new found love for bachata and dembow.
Ms. Srafen joins our team as an Associate Attorney. She is fluent in Arabic and Spanish.
